Lake Nacimiento is one of the finest lakes in California! At 18 miles long, there is lots of room for wakeboarding, wake surfing, swimming, fishing and just enjoying a day on the lake. The spotted bass and white bass fishing is excellent. The Lake Nacimiento water levels can fluctuate quite a bit due to Monterey County purposely letting water out of the dam through the summer for fishery and irrigation uses downstream. The lake is often referred to as 'The Dragon' because it's resemblance to looking like a dragon when viewed on a map.

Lake Nacimiento Boating Information:

Lake Nacimiento is a famous destination for boating and thus there can be large crowds at the launch ramps. While there are many private launch ramps around the lake at communities such as Oak Shores and Heritage Ranch, the only public launch ramp is on the east end of the lake near the dam. Occasionally in the summer the north side public launch ramp may be open, but please check with Monterey County or the marina before trying to visit the north ramp to be sure it is open.
There is a day use fee and a launch fee, the amounts are posted here. There are also boat rentals available at the Lake Nacimiento Resort Marina
Lake Nacimiento requires a vessel screening before launching to protect the lake from the invasive quagga mussels. Please read more here
